Do not throw sugarcane away as garbage

What are the uses of bagasse? We usually spit out the sugarcane after chewing it, won’t it be a waste of resources in the early field? So, what kind of role does it have?

What is bagasse?

Sugarcane is one of the main raw materials for sugar production. About 50% of the bagasse left after sugar extraction can be used to make paper. However, there are still some of the bagasse (pith cells) which have no interwoven power and should be removed before the pulping process. The length of bagasse fiber is about 0.65-2.17mm and the width is 21-28μm.

Sugarcane bagasse composition

Bagasse is a kind of mixture, so what are its main components?

In fact, bagasse is the dregs of sugarcane after crushing during sugar production, with coarse and hard texture, accounting for about 24%~27% of sugarcane (which contains about 50% water), and for every ton of sugar produced, 2~3 tons of bagasse will be generated. A proximate analysis of wet bagasse shows that bagasse is rich in cellulose and contains less lignin, so bagasse has great superiority as a fiber raw material.

Uses of bagasse

Bagasse is something similar to waste, so what are its uses?

1. Producing fuel alcohol

2. As feed

3. Used as an environmentally friendly material

Catering made of bagasse has high whiteness and tightness, good temperature and oil resistance, non-toxic and tasteless, completely degradable within three months, no three waste pollution in the production process, and the production cost is much lower than that of pulp molded fast food boxes.
